Store Policy
Read in full before placing a deposit or finalizing a purchase. These terms apply to every animal that leaves our care and to every animal returned to it.
Pricing and Payment
Listed prices include FedEx Priority Overnight hub-to-hub shipping within the contiguous United States. The listed price is the final price for that animal. Payment must be received in full and cleared before any animal is scheduled, packaged, or shipped. Deposits, when accepted, are twenty-five percent of the animal's total price and are non-refundable except where expressly stated in writing by HD Reptiles. Once a deposit is placed, the animal is reserved and removed from active availability.
The remaining balance is due on the timeline confirmed at the time of deposit. Failure to remit the balance by that date forfeits the deposit and releases the animal back to general availability without further notice. Any processing fees, currency conversion fees, or platform fees associated with the chosen payment method are the responsibility of the customer unless agreed in writing in advance.
Accepted Payment Methods
HD Reptiles accepts only payment methods that provide structured buyer and seller protections. These methods include PayPal Goods and Services, Venmo Goods and Services, and Square invoicing for credit or debit card payment. The available method for any given transaction will be confirmed in writing before invoicing.
Payments sent through methods that do not offer protections, including PayPal Friends and Family, Venmo Friends and Family, cash-equivalent transfers, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or other unsupported platforms, will be refunded or held pending correction at the sole discretion of HD Reptiles. Payment is not considered received until funds have cleared and are not subject to reversal.
Shipping Operations and Monitoring
Hub-to-hub shipping is selected to reduce risk and control delays. Routing animals directly between climate-controlled FedEx hub facilities removes residential handoffs, doorstep exposure, vehicle dwell time, and unattended-delivery scenarios. The handling chain is shorter and sealed end to end, reducing the number of points at which an animal can be delayed, mishandled, or exposed to ambient extremes.
Weather, hub performance, and route conditions are reviewed each shipping morning at the origin, the destination, and every intermediate hub. Carrier service alerts, forecasts, and hub status reports are checked before a label is generated, and any condition that introduces material risk triggers a hold before the package leaves HD Reptiles. Held shipments are rebooked to the next viable safe ship window without prompting, and the customer is notified the same day.
Shipping Standards and Carrier
All animals are shipped exclusively by FedEx Priority Overnight on a hub-to-hub basis. Shipments depart Monday through Wednesday only, except where alternative arrangements have been confirmed in writing in advance. Saturday delivery, residential delivery, and held-at-location shipments outside of designated FedEx hub facilities are not available unless expressly approved in writing by HD Reptiles.
The customer is responsible for confirming the correct destination FedEx hub, hub operating hours, holiday closures, identification requirements, and live animal acceptance procedures before the agreed ship date. The customer is responsible for arranging transportation to and from the hub. HD Reptiles is not responsible for fees, delays, or losses caused by an incorrect hub selection, an unattended hub, missing identification, or any other failure on the part of the customer to prepare for pickup.
Packaging Standards and MorphMarket Alignment
All outbound shipments comply with the current MorphMarket Live Animal Shipping Standards and applicable carrier live animal handling requirements. Outbound shipments leave HD Reptiles in insulated containers appropriate to the species, size, season, and route, with thermal regulation, secure containment, and signage as required by the carrier.
For any inbound shipment to HD Reptiles, including welfare returns and approved exchanges, the customer is required to follow the written packaging instructions provided by HD Reptiles in full. Failure to comply with packaging instructions, including improper containment, missing or inadequate insulation, missing or incorrect heat or cold packs, missing or unsigned live animal documentation, use of non-conforming containers, or any deviation from the carrier's live animal program, voids any return eligibility regardless of whether a label was provided, and terminates HD Reptiles obligations with respect to that shipment. The customer remains responsible for any animal harmed in transit due to improper packaging.
Approval to Ship and Acceptance on Arrival
Approval by HD Reptiles to send an animal as a welfare return, swap, or exchange is approval to ship only. It is not a commitment to accept the animal upon arrival. Final acceptance is governed solely by the condition of the animal at the time of physical receipt at HD Reptiles, by the integrity of the shipment, and by the accuracy of the information provided by the customer in advance.
An animal arriving in a state that creates risk to the HD Reptiles collection, that contradicts the condition represented by the customer at the time of approval, that arrives outside the agreed packaging or shipping window, or that arrives with undisclosed injury, illness, parasites, or pathogen exposure, may be refused at intake, rerouted, isolated, treated, or in extreme cases humanely euthanized at the sole discretion of HD Reptiles. None of these actions create any obligation of refund, credit, replacement, return shipment, or compensation owed to the customer.
Documentation and Proof of Shipment
For any inbound return, swap, exchange, or welfare surrender, the customer is required to provide complete documentation within the window stated in the written approval. Required documentation includes the FedEx tracking number assigned to the shipment, a timestamped FedEx receipt of hub drop-off, photographs of the sealed and labeled package taken at the moment of drop-off, photographs of the interior packaging configuration prior to sealing, and any live animal documentation required by the carrier or by HD Reptiles.
Failure to provide complete documentation by the stated deadline voids return eligibility, terminates HD Reptiles obligations with respect to the shipment, and constitutes abandonment of the process. Documentation must be original and unedited. Altered, fabricated, or selectively edited documentation is a material violation of this policy.
Live Arrival Guarantee and DOA Policy
HD Reptiles guarantees live arrival on outbound shipments under the conditions stated in this section. The customer must capture continuous, unedited video that begins before the package is opened and that confirms the insulated shipping container did not arrive substantially damaged. The package must be opened within five minutes of customer pickup at the destination hub. Any animal found deceased must be filmed in continuous frame from the snake bag, deli cup, or interior containment through removal and confirmation of death.
The customer must notify HD Reptiles within one hour of hub pickup and provide the unedited video file in original form, together with the tracking number and hub timestamps, for any DOA claim. Failure to meet any of these requirements voids the live arrival guarantee.
The live arrival guarantee is an outbound shipping protection only. It is independent of, and does not modify, expand, or override, the welfare return and forfeiture provisions of this policy, the health guarantee, the no compensation clause, or any other section. A successful claim under the live arrival guarantee does not create any right to refund, credit, or replacement under the welfare return policy, and a denied welfare return does not create any right to invoke the live arrival guarantee.
Health Guarantee and Husbandry Requirements
HD Reptiles offers a thirty day live animal guarantee and a ten day no-illness guarantee on outbound shipments, both contingent upon documented proper husbandry by the customer beginning at the moment of pickup. Both windows run concurrently from the date of physical pickup at the destination hub.
To make any claim under this guarantee, the customer must provide proof of pickup within one hour of arrival, dated photographs of the enclosure in use at the time of the issue, ambient and surface temperature readings from a calibrated instrument, humidity readings, substrate type, heat source type and configuration, evidence of a properly sized hide and a defined cool zone, food type and size offered, feeding response history, and a description of handling frequency and method since arrival. Claims that cannot be substantiated by complete documentation will be denied.
Stress-related conditions, including but not limited to dehydration, regurgitation, feeding refusal, posture or coloration changes, behavioral adjustment, and acclimation responses, are not covered under any circumstance. Conditions that arise from cohabitation with other reptiles, exposure to other collections, contact with wild-caught animals, or exposure to non-quarantined animals in the customer's home are not covered. Conditions arising from the customer's failure to maintain published husbandry parameters are not covered.
Health Disclosure and Customer Liability
Any customer requesting a return, exchange, swap, or welfare surrender of an HD Reptiles animal is required to disclose, in writing and in advance of approval, the complete known health history of the animal during the period it was in the customer's possession or in the possession of any third party at the customer's direction. Required disclosures include feeding history, shedding history, weight history, any observed symptoms, any veterinary contact, any treatments administered, any medications given, any known or suspected exposure to other reptiles or collections, any cohabitation, any travel, any handling by third parties, any change in environment, and any incident that may have affected the animal's health.
Failure to disclose, partial disclosure, or misrepresentation, whether intentional or negligent, is a material violation of this policy. The customer is fully liable for any damages, treatment costs, diagnostic costs, quarantine costs, biosecurity costs, collateral losses within the HD Reptiles collection, and any consequential losses caused by undisclosed or misrepresented health conditions. HD Reptiles reserves the right to pursue full recovery of these costs and losses through any available legal channel, including the recovery of attorney fees where permitted by law.
Biosecurity, Quarantine, and Medical Authority
HD Reptiles maintains strict biosecurity standards to protect its breeding collection, and this policy grants HD Reptiles full authority to enforce those standards. Any animal returned, surrendered, or otherwise re-entering HD Reptiles is subject to immediate isolation in a dedicated quarantine area separate from the active collection. HD Reptiles retains sole authority to determine quarantine duration, diagnostic testing, treatment protocol, isolation conditions, veterinary involvement, and final disposition.
Where a returned animal is determined by HD Reptiles or by a consulting veterinarian to present a credible risk of contagion, including but not limited to nidovirus, cryptosporidium, inclusion body disease, mites, ticks, internal parasites, fungal infection, respiratory infection, or any condition flagged by veterinary review, HD Reptiles may refuse the animal at intake, isolate the animal indefinitely, treat the animal at the customer's expense, decline to treat, or in extreme cases humanely euthanize the animal. None of these actions creates any obligation of refund, credit, replacement, return shipment, or compensation.
The customer is liable for the full cost of biosecurity response attributable to undisclosed or misrepresented health conditions, including diagnostic testing, veterinary fees, treatment, decontamination, facility downtime, and replacement of any HD Reptiles animals lost as a direct or indirect consequence. HD Reptiles may invoice the customer for these costs and may pursue collection through any available legal channel.
Animal Forfeiture and Welfare Return Policy
HD Reptiles supports the welfare of every animal it has produced. If a customer is unable to continue caring for an HD Reptiles animal, the customer may request a welfare return, in which the animal is shipped back to HD Reptiles at the customer's sole expense for placement, retention, rehoming, or other disposition at the discretion of HD Reptiles.
A welfare return is not a refund mechanism, a buyback, a credit, or a return for value. No refund, partial refund, store credit, replacement animal, hold credit, future discount, breeding right, or compensation of any kind is owed or granted under any welfare return, regardless of the original purchase price, the genetic value of the animal, the time elapsed since purchase, or the condition of the animal. The purpose of this policy is to provide a humane alternative to surrender, abandonment, or unsuitable rehoming, and not to provide a financial remedy.
Eligibility Limits on Forfeiture and Return
Welfare return eligibility is conditional and limited. The animal must be the same animal sold by HD Reptiles, verifiable by photographs, identifying markings, weight, and any genetic or visual confirmation HD Reptiles requires. The animal must be in a condition consistent with reasonable care, free of untreated injury, free of active infection, parasites, or contagious disease that has not been disclosed in advance, and free of any condition resulting from neglect, exposure to wild-caught animals, cohabitation, or use in any commercial activity.
HD Reptiles reserves the right to inspect documentation, photographs, husbandry records, and any other relevant information before approving any welfare return. Approval is granted in writing only, is specific to the named animal, the named customer, and the conditions stated in the approval message, and may be revoked at any time prior to acceptance on arrival. A request for welfare return must be initiated by the original purchaser of record. HD Reptiles is not obligated to consider requests originating from any party other than the original purchaser.
Breeding, Resale, and Transfer Restrictions
An animal is not eligible for welfare return under this policy if it has been bred, paired, attempted to be bred, used in any breeding program, advertised for breeding, leased, loaned for breeding or display, sold, gifted, traded, transferred, or otherwise placed in the custody of any third party at any point following its delivery to the original customer. Animals that have produced clutches, litters, or eggs, fertile or otherwise, are permanently ineligible. Animals that have been resold or transferred are permanently ineligible regardless of whether the current possessor is the original customer of record.
Misrepresentation of breeding, resale, or transfer history, whether intentional or negligent, is a material violation of this policy and creates the same liability and recovery rights described in the health disclosure provisions of this policy. HD Reptiles reserves the right to require sworn written attestation of breeding and ownership history as a condition of approval, and to deny or revoke approval upon discovery of any inconsistency.
Customer Responsibility for Return Shipments
All costs, risks, and logistics of returning an animal to HD Reptiles are the sole responsibility of the customer. The customer is responsible for procuring carrier-compliant packaging, thermal materials, live animal documentation, hub drop-off, and any associated fees. The customer is responsible for compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing the transport of live reptiles, including any species-specific permits, import or export restrictions, or transit restrictions in the customer's jurisdiction or in any transit jurisdiction.
The customer retains full risk of loss for the animal until the animal is physically received, inspected, and accepted by HD Reptiles in writing. Carrier delays, carrier mishandling, weather events, theft, package loss, package rerouting, hub closures, customs holds, and any other shipping incident remain the customer's risk and are not the responsibility of HD Reptiles. The customer is encouraged to obtain appropriate carrier insurance at the customer's expense.
Abandonment and Revocation
If a customer fails to ship an approved welfare return within the window stated in the written approval, fails to provide required documentation by the stated deadline, fails to respond to communication from HD Reptiles for a period of seven consecutive days during an active return process, declines or fails to follow packaging instructions, or otherwise materially fails to comply with the agreed terms, HD Reptiles may revoke approval and terminate the return process at its sole discretion.
Revocation closes the matter without further obligation on the part of HD Reptiles. HD Reptiles is not required to reopen, reapprove, or reconsider a revoked welfare return, and is not obligated to issue future approvals to the same customer. Any animal that arrives at HD Reptiles after revocation, or without prior written approval, may be refused at the carrier and the customer is responsible for any return shipment, holding fees, or carrier penalties incurred.
Force Majeure
HD Reptiles is not liable for any failure or delay in performance, including delays in shipping, delays in acceptance, delays in communication, or interruption of any guarantee window, caused by events outside its reasonable control. These events include but are not limited to severe weather, extreme heat or cold, wildfires, earthquakes, floods, volcanic activity, power outages, telecommunications outages, internet outages, carrier service disruption, FedEx hub closures, FedEx operational failures, regulatory action, government shutdown, public health emergency, embargo, civil unrest, war, terrorism, and labor action.
During a force majeure event, all timelines under this policy are suspended for the duration of the event and for a reasonable recovery period thereafter. HD Reptiles will resume performance as soon as reasonably practicable following the conclusion of the event and is not obligated to provide compensation for the delay.
Holding, Pickup, and Buyer Default
Animals will not be held indefinitely after purchase. Once full payment has been received, shipping must be scheduled and completed within thirty calendar days unless an alternative timeline is agreed in writing. Failure to schedule and accept shipment within thirty days, absent a force majeure event or written extension, results in forfeiture of all amounts paid without refund and releases the animal back to general availability without further notice.
On the day of delivery, the customer must arrange pickup at the destination FedEx hub within one hour of arrival. Failure to pick up within one hour will result in an automatic charge equal to fifty percent of the animal's purchase price, due immediately, in addition to any costs associated with carrier holding, rerouting, return shipment, veterinary intervention, or animal welfare response. Repeated failure to comply with pickup obligations may result in refusal of future sales.
Sex, Genetics, and Testing
Sex is guaranteed unless otherwise stated at the time of sale. Genetics are listed to the best of HD Reptiles knowledge and visual identification. Visual traits, incomplete dominant expressions, recessive carrier status, line-bred influences, and polygenic traits may vary in expression and inheritance. HD Reptiles makes no guarantee of specific outcomes in any future breeding by the customer, and disclaims any guarantee of fertility, clutch size, hatch rate, sex ratio, or trait expression in offspring produced by the customer.
Genetic testing prior to shipping is available at the customer's expense once a deposit has been placed. The customer is responsible for selecting the testing laboratory, paying all testing fees, and bearing the risk of any handling required to obtain a sample. HD Reptiles will reasonably cooperate with sample collection, but is not responsible for testing outcomes, turnaround time, or the accuracy of third-party laboratories.
Buyer Responsibility and Care Standards
It is the responsibility of the customer to research and meet the care requirements of any species purchased before placing a deposit. HD Reptiles reserves the right to refuse a sale, decline a return, or refuse continuing communication with any party that demonstrates an inability or unwillingness to provide appropriate care, that misrepresents intent or experience, that engages in abusive or harassing conduct, or that operates in a manner inconsistent with responsible reptile keeping.
Active-duty military service, deployment, permanent change of station, relocation, life events, financial change, divorce, and any other personal circumstance do not create an exception to this policy and do not entitle the customer to any refund, credit, or compensation. Customers serving in any role with deployment or relocation risk acknowledge those risks at the time of purchase and accept full responsibility for long-term care planning. The welfare return option remains available to all customers as the supported alternative to unsuitable surrender.
No Compensation Clause
Forfeiture, welfare return, surrender, refusal at intake, quarantine, treatment, or humane euthanasia of an animal under this policy results in zero compensation to the customer. No refund, partial refund, store credit, replacement animal, hold credit, breeding right, future discount, exchange value, or any other consideration is owed or granted, regardless of the original purchase price, the perceived genetic value of the animal, the time elapsed since purchase, the condition of the animal at intake, or the reason for the surrender.
This clause governs all surrender and forfeiture events under this policy and supersedes any contrary expectation, oral statement, social media post, marketing description, or third-party representation. Only a written, signed exception issued by HD Reptiles for a specific transaction may modify this clause, and only with respect to that transaction.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the total aggregate liability of HD Reptiles to any customer arising out of or related to the sale, shipment, return, surrender, quarantine, treatment, or care of any animal is limited to the amount actually paid by that customer to HD Reptiles for that specific animal. HD Reptiles is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of breeding income, loss of projected offspring value, loss of business opportunity, loss of reputation, loss of data, emotional distress, or any other non-direct loss, even if HD Reptiles has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Any claim arising out of or related to this policy or the sale or return of any animal must be brought within one year after the cause of action accrues, or it is permanently barred. The limitations of liability and the time limit on claims set forth in this section apply regardless of the legal theory on which a claim is based, including contract, tort, strict liability, statute, or any other theory.
Indemnification
The customer agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless HD Reptiles, its owner, its representatives, its employees, and its agents from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, fine, penalty, cost, or expense, including reasonable attorney fees and court costs, arising out of or related to the customer's breach of this policy, the customer's misrepresentation or omission of health, breeding, or transfer information, the customer's failure to comply with applicable federal, state, or local law in the keeping or transport of the animal, the customer's negligent or unlawful conduct involving any animal sold by HD Reptiles, or the customer's exposure of any third party or third-party collection to disease originating from the customer's keeping of the animal.
Governing Law, Venue, and Severability
This policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Alaska, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to this policy, the sale of any animal, the return of any animal, or the conduct of either party in connection with any animal sold by HD Reptiles shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Anchorage, Alaska, and each party consents to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.
If any provision of this policy is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to render it enforceable, or if it cannot be so modified, severed from this policy, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The failure of HD Reptiles to enforce any provision of this policy in any specific instance is not a waiver of that provision or of any other provision in any other instance.
Buyer Acknowledgment and Policy Changes
Placement of a deposit, payment of a purchase price, or acceptance of an animal from HD Reptiles constitutes the customer's acknowledgment that the customer has read this policy in full, understands its terms, and agrees to be bound by it. This policy, together with any written confirmations issued by HD Reptiles in connection with a specific transaction, constitutes the entire agreement between HD Reptiles and the customer with respect to that transaction, and supersedes any prior or contemporaneous oral or written statement.
HD Reptiles may update this policy from time to time. The version of this policy in effect on the date of purchase governs that transaction. The version of this policy in effect on the date of any future transaction governs that future transaction. Where this policy refers to or runs concurrently with the MorphMarket Default Store Policy, this policy controls in any conflict, and the MorphMarket Default Store Policy applies only to terms not addressed in this policy.
